MB JV-9 travelled to north Alabama and defeated Bob Jones High School 10-2 in GBYLA action in Madison, AL.  Draped in their new green uniforms, the Spartans started slow but took over the game in the second quarter to take a 5-1 half-time lead.  The Brookies scored five more times in the second half and the game was in hand by the fourth quarter so that every member of the team saw significant playing time.

Mountain Brook’s offense was paced by their flamboyant attack pair of BamaLax star Crawford “Rolex” Tindle and Taylor “Speed Racer” Carson.  Tindle netted 3 times and added 2 assists on the afternoon while Carson scored twice and recorded 3 assists.  Kemper “Special K” Sanders reached 10 goals on the season by scoring twice against the boys from Madison County.  Tindle had a beautiful assist on a back door extra man offense play to Carson, and Carson emulated his running mate with a nifty assist to Elijah “Fear The Turtle” Welman for the quick stick goal on the crease.  Brine All-American John Andrew White added one goal with an unassisted crank to the upper right hand corner.  Daniel Rhodes opened up his scoring account for the Spartans with a dodge and shoot goal that bounced through the goalie’s legs and into the goal to finish up the scoring.

Mountain Brook’s defense continued its excellent play by again shutting out an opponent in the fourth quarter.  The consistent play of BamaLax star David Favrot, Porter “Porterhouse” Williamson, BamaLax star and Brine All-American Patrick Doud along with Malcolm Luttrell, James Pugh and Christopher Jones has meant that the Brookies defense has given up only 13 goals this season, a little more than 3 goals a game on average.  With the talisman of the defense, Goalie Thomas Byrne, out with illness, Goalie Fuller “The Amish Boy” Crocker stepped in and the defense did not miss a beat.  The game was characterized by aggressive and physical play, typified by the aggressiveness of Carter “Uther” McAlpin who was awarded the Captain Crunch Award by Coach Doud for his hit late in the game.

Mountain Brook travels to Hoover to play Spain Park White in their next GBYLA game.
